Our Story

Our Origin

Origins (1948):

The station began on May 15, 1948, as WASA, founded by Jason and Virginia Pate. Over the decades, it served the community under various call signs, including WJSS, and shifted through multiple formats.

Formerly known as WHGM Gold, the station focused on classic hits from the 60s and 70s. It later rebranded to WHGM SOUL to better serve the region’s R&B and Southern Soul audience.

In early 2024, the station expanded its reach by shifting its FM presence to 100.1 FM.
